Spicy Dirty Martini Recipe

  • Servings: 2

This martini is made in a classic pre-prohibition style meaning that it has orange bitters, gin instead of vodka and a 2:1 ratio of gin to vermouth, which is a bit more vermouth than people are used to. As a general rule of thumb, cocktails that have all clear ingredients in them should be stirred and not shaken (don't listen to James Bond!). This cocktail is made spicy and dirty by using olives that are stuffed with spicy chili peppers that are also perfect for Sunday morning bloody marys.

Recipe by John Cusimano and featured on Rachael Ray's Meals in Minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces of gin
  • 2 ounces of dry vermouth
  • 2 dashes of orange bitters
  • Splash of brine from a jar of olives stuffed with spicy peppers plus spicy olives to garnish

Directions

Add ice into a cocktail mixing glass and to two martini glasses and set aside to chill.

When you're ready to make the drinks, discard the ice in the mixing glass. Add the gin, dry vermouth, orange bitters, olive brine and some ice to the mixing glass. Stir with a bar spoon to chill well.

Discard the ice in the martini glasses and pour the chilled martinis into the chilled glasses. Garnish with an olive.
