Ingredients
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups Michigan apples (such as Granny Smith or McIntosh), peeled, cored and sliced
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup flour
A pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup black walnuts, chopped
Freshly whipped cream or ice cream, for topping (optional)
Directions
Pre-heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch metal pie pan. In a large bowl, combine the beaten egg with the sugar and fold in the apples. Stir in the baking powder, flour, salt, vanilla and walnuts and spread the mixture into the pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
